Established in 1957, the company is part of the M J Hickey Plant Hire & Contracts Ltd group of companies and specialises in major groundworks projects, demolition, site clearance, recycled aggregates, plant and skip hire.
The company has its own waste transfer station and aggregate recycling facility. All of our staff are highly trained and experienced in their specialist fields.
Services include, full operational contract management, in accordance with compliance accreditation to both BS EN ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System and BS EN ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and FORS (Silver) accreditation.

Skips ranging from 4 - 40 yards available for domestic, commercial or industrial hire, providing waste solutions for all! We also have our own waste transfer station and aggregate recycling facility. R Thornton have a fleet of skip wagons for delivering and collecting “open loading” and “roll-on roll-off” general waste skips.
Our contract services fall within a number of construction-related industries such as: demolition, material bulk road haulage, earthworks, civil engineering, sea defence and much more!
